Meet the Board:
  • Leslie D. Cumiford, President and founding member. Leslie has three beautiful children who are the apple of her eye and a wonderful husband who loves her and the children even though he married into the family court nightmare. She is self-employed as a manufacturing and computer specialist. Leslie started CFJ because of her frustrations regarding her own family court case. Download Leslie's story as pd. What drives her and keeps her going? Download Leslie's personal philosophy as pdf. Leslie was recently honored by Heather Wilson at a Women’s History Month reception in honor of New Mexico women and their efforts to make the community a better place.
  • Tamara Brush, Vice President is the mother of two adult children and a loving step-mother to her four-year-old step-daughter. Tamara received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Legal Assistant Studies from TVI (CNM) in 1995. As a Legal Assistant/Paralegal/Legal Secretary she has done civil and appellate work at both the District Court and Federal levels as well as misdemeanor criminal work. It was not until 2005, when Keith, now her husband, began fighting for custody and visitation of his daughter that she discovered how bad the family court system had become and how unethical officers of the court had been allowed to become. As a result of the numerous failures of the legal system to protect her step-daughter, associated with the worst child abuse case of the year in 2006, she has decided to use her legal skills to become part of the solution and effectuate change in the family court arena.
  • Sylvia Bowles, Secretary is a Vietnam Era Veteran, United States Air Force, with over 20 years of past employment with the Federal Government in the area of Administration; budget, procurement, human resources, travel, and facilities management.  Her work life has taken her through many positions with Agencies such as Housing and Urban Development, Department of Labor, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service, and National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medcine and National Cancer Institute.  She is a nationally certified massage therapist who will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare management, May 2008.  Sylvia has one son, Jeffrey (33), who currently resides in Cleveland, Ohio.  Her constant companion, a mini-Schnauzer, Otto, likes to take her for long walks in the Bosque.
  • Janice Blevins, Treasurer
  • Bill O'Connell, Research Director is a freelance writer and a lifelong activists for civil rights. He is a social liberal in the extreme and a fiscal conservative. He has a firm commitment to the principles upon which the United States was founded and framed, believing that the democratic republic that was sought has yet to be brought into fruition.
