 Next monthly meeting:
2:00 pm -3:00 pm, Saturday, October 4, 2008. Location: Cumberland Presbyterian Church at the corner of Academy and Moon. Park in the back (south side), we are in the Adult Education wing, just inside the door (Rm 403).
Topic: No speaker this month, just a business meeting
Questions everyone should be asking about Rick Hermann's case:
  1. If the email threat was obviously a federal issue, why did the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department hold on to it and do their own "investigation", precluding the FBI who should have had jurisdiction for 48 hours while they harassed Rick, arrested him at a restaurant, roughed him up, and searched his home?
  2. Why did Gorence counsel Rick to waive his right to a preliminary hearing on 1/11/08 without first securing from the U.S. a deal in which Rick could be released under some form of conditions from prison? Criminal attorneys are baffled about this step on the part of Gorence.
  3. Why did Gorence show up to "the party" twice without being invited? He could have filed a Motion to Withdraw the day before the 1/18/08 hearing, and if he had simply done so Rick would not be facing mental lockdown hundreds of miles away from his home for two months.
  4. Why did Gorence keep the incriminating email from Rick through two hearings and advise Rick to waive the preliminary hearing without first discussing in detail with him the evidence for and against the U.S. case?
  5. Why did Gorence not visit Rick at all between the 1/11/08 and 1/18/08 hearings if he actually intended to represent Rick's interests rather than "control his client" to assure the resulting court decisions that were so adverse to Rick's interests?
